Healing rooted in respect for your story, your culture, and your pace.
Han Mitakuyapi!
You deserve a space for healing that understands your lived experience without asking you to translate it first.
This is a space where you can show up as you are, without your guard up, without bracing for misunderstanding, without starting from scratch.
I offer culturally-centered therapy for Indigenous communities and BIPOC clients, while welcoming individuals of all backgrounds who are looking for thoughtful, collaborative care.
Many people come here feeling stuck. And together, we work toward something that feels more open, more steady, more like yourself again.
I’m Shelley Eagleman-Bointy.
Therapy with me is collaborative.
I’m not here to tell you what’s wrong with you or how to fix it. You are the expert on your life. My role is to listen, support, and help you make sense of what feels stuck so you can move toward something that feels more aligned.
We go at your pace. We focus on what matters to you.
I take a holistic approach to healing. That means we might talk about more than just what’s happening in your mind. We might explore your sleep, your daily rhythms, your relationships, your connection to your body, your spirituality, your culture. All of these things shape how we feel and how we move through the world.
Confidentiality is something I hold with a lot of care. I understand the history of breached trust that many Indigenous people carry when it comes to systems and services. This space is meant to feel safe, steady, and respectful of that.
What to Expect
The first session is simply a place to begin.
We’ll take some time to get to know each other. I’ll share a bit about how I work, and you can share whatever feels important about what brought you here.
We’ll talk through practical things like scheduling and insurance, but we’ll also spend time understanding how you process best. Some people think out loud, some need time to reflect or write. There’s no right way to do this.
If you’ve been in therapy before, we can talk about what worked and what didn’t. If you haven’t, that’s okay too.
Diagnoses come up in this process, but I don’t see people as defined by them. They’re just one piece of a much larger picture.
Mostly, this is a time to begin our collaboration. You don’t have to carry everything in at once. We’ll take it one step at a time.
FAQs
Who do you work with?
1
I center Indigenous and tribal communities in my work, while also offering care to BIPOC clients and individuals of all backgrounds who are looking for a more grounded, culturally-aware approach to therapy.
What if I’ve had a negative experience with therapy before?
2
You’re not alone in that. We’ll take the time to understand what didn’t feel right and move differently from there.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?
3
Not at all. Many people come in feeling unsure or stuck. That’s a valid place to start.
What is your style as a therapist?
4
My approach is collaborative and tailored to each person. I draw from behavioral therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused work, and trauma-informed practices, while staying rooted in a strength-based perspective. Above all, the work is guided by you—your goals, your experiences, and what healing looks like in your life.
Do you accept insurance?
5
I accept Kansas Medicaid (United/Optum, Sunflower, Healthy Blue). I am in the final stage of paneling with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas. As an out-of network provider, clients pay for sessions upfront, but a superbill detailing the services can be provided for potential reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your coverage.
